Flamphotometry is an analytic method used for determination of the alkaline and alkalino-earthly methods which give an electronic configuration lightly excitable. Flamphotometer Sherwood Model 410 with low temperature flame is recommended for the determination of sodium content, potassium, lithium, calcium and barium.
The apparatus can be used in an economical way in the laboratories of control of waters and soils, of control of food, in the industry of paper, oil as well as in educational purposes. The plan of apparatus working can be seen in the drawing.
From the given out light, there are selected with filters of interference wavelengths specific for each element. In the apparatus there can be set three filters which can be changed by a switch. For other elements determination, the filters must be changed. The flame can fed alike with propane, butane, mixture propane-butane and methane gas.
The safe work is assured by the automatic mechanism for stopping of gas flow when the flame turns off as well as the mechanism of turning on automatically and the signaling lamp of flame. The soft adjusting, according to the composition, of burning gas flow which enters with a pressure of almost 30 Psi (2 bar) is comfortably made by the switch for soft adjusting situated on the front panel of the apparatus.

For working it is necessary air without oil and water, with a flow of 61/min. and minim pressure of 14 Psi (0.94 bar). On the blank solution, it can be adjusted the zero value of display, and on the calibration solution there can be made raw and soft adjustments by means of the corresponding switches of the displayed concentration. So, during the measurements, on the display can be read directly the concentration. In case of analysis of a great number of concentrated tests we recommend the system dilution- dozing Model 8C5.
