The most plates made by MACHERY-NAGEL are sold with the indicator of fluorescence. For small wavelengths, illuminations at 254 nm, are mixed in the adsorbent layer as fluorescence silicate of zinc activated with manganese.

Plates CSS with adsorbent silica gel non modified

The most used plates CSS in the laboratory practice are those with adsorbent with silica gel standard. Silica gel 66 (SIL G) has the pores’diameter 60 A, specific surface (BET) 500 meters2/g the specific volume 0,75 ml/g and the particles’ diameter 5-17 um.
The binder type polymeric that is used has a good resistance in comparison with the most organic solvents and in comparison with the most aggressive reagents of developing.

In case of plates with the indicative HR, the adsorbent is of great purity silica gel. In case of plates with polyester with indicative N the binder is another than those with the indicative G and that leads in a small measure at differences of separation. The plates with the indicative DURASIL are characterized by excellent separation properties, due to a binder agent recently developed and due to the presence of adsorbent layer with normal phase without hydrophobic groups.

The plates with indicative SILGUR have an area of concentration that consists of an inferior strip of kieselgur in the area of concentration, during elution, the test components pass without reacting one with the other to the silica gel layer where the separation begins. So, the identical components from different tests will be really situated on the same line, being avoided the errors due to the appliance’s imprecision. The spherical form spots line up, of course, so the sensibility is increased and there are made precision determinations easier.
